Zuri recently landed a job at Meta 🎉 While he did not use his career walking deck in the interviews, he shared it in his follow up emails to the recruiter, hiring manager, and interviewers.

His biggest challenge as a job seeker was transitioning disciplines from Social Media Marketing to Integrated Marketing.

His mentor Arinze Emeagwali suggested that he create an “About Zuri” deck during the interview process.

Zuri decided to create one in Canva, shedding light on the transferable experiences and skills he had that weren’t in a resume.

I recommend job seekers create a walking deck to set themselves apart from the competition in the recruiting process.

Zuri’s quick tips for job seekers:

  1. Start with a template
  2. Make it your own (add visuals, styles, etc)
  3. Highlight examples of your career projects
  4. Share it in your follow up emails
