My Career Walking Deck (Example)

I learned about the concept of a “Career Walking Deck” when I joined Microsoft as an early-in-career. In a nutshell, a career walking deck is a visual presentation that outlines your skills, experiences, and achievements in a concise and compelling way.
As someone who has helped over 200 people around the world through Resume Rescue, I actually believe that the resume and cover letter will become obsolete one day—and that the career walking deck will be a much more effective asset for job hunting and career development.
Over the years, I’ve created a dozen different versions depending on the situation or job I was applying for. For those of you who are looking to get started and need a little inspiration, here are some examples of what I included in my Career Walking Decks:

Experiences Slide: Check out Resume Rescue to learn how to craft concise and results-oriented bullet points. This helps you demonstrate your impact.

Why Me Slide: Identify the most important “buckets” of the role from reading the job posting and then emphasize your relevant skills and experiences in respect to those buckets. This helps you show the hiring manager that you have what it takes!
