3 Reasons Why You Should Consider Blogging

It’s kinda crazy, but I just realized that I’ve been blogging for nearly a decade! It all started with a food blog back in high school, which became a personal passion and hobby of mine. Personally, I enjoy blogging as much as I enjoy reading! It’s a creative outlet that helps me process my thoughts and flex my writing muscles to become a better communicator.

Lifelong Learning

The best way to learn something is by teaching it to someone else. Blogging is a great way to take your learnings and convert your thoughts into words and actions. For example, I like to summarize my career learnings in this blog and come back to them from time-to-time when I am feeling stuck.

Thought Leadership

Over time, you also establish yourself as a thought leader. The more you talk about a certain topic, the more knowledgeable and experienced you become in it. Although I am an early-in-career, I have had many people managers or groups reach out to me to facilitate workshops or be a part of career development initiatives. Recently, I’ve found that even HR has recognized my efforts in this space and have redirected people to me for my resources (which is super cool 😅)!

Differentiation

Furthermore, blogging (or content creation) is another way for you to stand out apart from others. For both of my jobs at Microsoft, this blog was a topic of interest for my interviewers, and I also believe that it was a great way for me to demonstrate my passion, impact, and growth mindset.
