7 Month Life Update: I celebrated my birthday and enjoyed the Seattle summer!

Trying to hold onto my youth πŸŽ‚

August is my favourite month because it is my birth month 😎 but I am another year closer to 30 which is slightly terrifying 😳 This was also the first birthday that I spent outside of Canada πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ and away from my family… which is crazy to think about!

For my birthday, a dozen of my friends and I had dinner at Momiji in Capitol Hill (my fave) 🍣 and some of us went clubbing in Seattle for the first time at Chop Suey (which had great throwback music but no A/C). The next day, my partner took me out to Di Fiora (another fave) for dinner and I went to my friend’s fun dance party as part of her Chai & Chat Seattle Social Club 🎢

Becoming a fan of Hamilton ⭐️

Although Hamilton tickets were sold out when my brother and I visited NYC in June, I finally had the chance to watch it at the Paramount Theatre one fine summer weekend. I was blown away by the music, characters, and storyline. It was humorous, dramatic, and absolutely brilliant! My partner and I have been listening to the catchy soundtrack ever since.

7 years in the making, I must say that Hamilton is one of the most genius examples of storytelling that I’ve seen! I truly believe that Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Broadway genius with Hamilton is comparable to Hajime Isayama’s anime genius with Attack on Titan… SIMPLY GODLY πŸ™Œ πŸ™Œ

Welcoming my cousins to the Emerald City πŸ’š

My brother and cousins also came to visit me in Seattle for the first time. I had a hospitality guide all planned out for them but we ended up winging most of it (lol). The highlights were seeing The Weeknd (back when he was Abel to sing πŸ₯² **) and Kendrick Lamar concerts back-to-back πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ Both artists played all of their bangers and my feet hurt like crazy by the end of their concerts… but it was awesome! I am definitely loving the music scene in Seattle because big artists rarely toured my home city in Canada πŸ₯Ή

For the rest of the time, my cousins and I explored Seattle together and it reminded me of the good ol’ days when we’d hang out every week. We ate delicious Thai food, took pictures of the city line from GasWorks, walked around University Village and Pike Place, and toured the Microsoft campus. We were also surprised that my apartment comfortably fit 6 people, and I must admit that it now feels a bit empty without their rambunctious ruckus. I really enjoyed our time together and hope they come back soon.

**P.S. I copied this pun from my cousin (Iris) so the credit goes to her.
