These days, I’ve been exploring many potential career paths.

My predecessor comes back from maternity leave in the Fall, so I’ve been actively on the lookout for “what’s next”.

Since I’ve had so many career chats, I am sometimes caught between needing to clarify what I want in my career vs. letting serendipity take the reins. In half of my coffee chats, people are telling me that I need to get specific and go after that one opportunity. In the other half of my coffee chats, people are telling me that career plans never really work out the way you want them to, so just keep an open mind and put yourself out there.

Although I am grateful for all this insightful advice and perspective, I find myself stuck in analysis paralysis.

The other day, someone told me that I should remember to listen to myself more than I listen to others… The point is that, at the end of the day, I know myself best and I need to do what’s best for me.

I thought that this was really timely advice… so thank you, CL!
